Earthquake causes sewer to collapse.  The biggest earthquake ever recored was in Deerfield, Kansas. An earthquake is the shaking of the ground caused by an abrupt shift of rock along a fracture in the Earth, called a fault. Magnitude is a measure of the amount of energy released during an earthquake, and you've probably heard news reports about earthquake magnitudes measured using the Richter scale.
